I always write about being on PBS’ To The Contrary as an honor because the show and the host have done so much for me. It was the first TV program to put me on-air in America.
But I guess all good things have to come to an end, or at least change.
Despite the traumatic experience of being gaslit on the show over Afghan women, which I wrote about for Medium, I went back this month and was really offended by this webisode we taped over black/brown face.
I still cannot tell if I am being over-sensitive or not, but I in 2019 I am really over white people deciding what people of color should be outraged by and what we should shut up and tolerate.
