From New York to my home-base of Washington, I was busy taking my feminist messages to the airwaves last week.
On PBS, I had the honor to be back on air with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Republic Strategist Rinah Shah, and Commentator Darlene Kennedy.
We talked about the role sexism played, if any, in the resignation of the head of the Secret Service, Emma Watson’s #HeForShe, and Christy Turlington Burns’ Every Mother Counts Organization.
If you follow my work, you will know how close to my heart the issue of maternal health is, so it was an honor to highlight Burns’ work in Bangladesh and around the world.
As always when it comes to maternal mortality, it is important we remember that although 90% of pregnancy-related deaths occur in the ‘developing world,’ the US has one of the highest rates of women dying in childbirth amongst industrialized nations.
