I totally belief that feminism and gender equality cannot truly advance if we do not have our most important allies working hand in hand with us -men.
Most feminists know and agree with this, but it still comes as a shock for others to hear, but just think about how much men lose from restrictive gender norms that deny them from being a real hands-on parent? Or how society’s ideas of masculinity put pressure on men to be breadwinners, and also denying them to learn how to be emotional.
Of course, there is more to it, and as always it was an honor to return to PBS’ To The Contrary to discuss male allies in feminism, the NFL’s violence against women culture, and campus sexual assaults.
