Hello 2020!

Happy New Year, Dear Readers!

This is the beginning of a brand new decade but it is even more special for me because it was exactly ten years ago that I first started writing Anushay’s Point. Before any major media gave me an online platform or published my work, I took the advice of a friend and created my own website for my writing.

In 2019, I expanded my maternal mortality work by moderating Christy Turlington-Burns’ SXSW panel, speaking together with her at an additional Austin panel, and then doing the Louisiana Maternal Health Summit along with Dr. Rebekah Gee, and Jennie Joseph. We truly formed a “bad-ass partnership,” as Christy likes to call us.

My TV appearances grew on MSNBC as I made my debut on the network’s prestigious political show, Morning Joe and travelled to NYC for Sunday mornings on Up! With David Gura.

But the highlight of my year was the launch of Medium’s ZORA publication. For women of color, and written by women of color, the platform not only amplifies our voices but for the first time I feel like my writing is paid its monetary worth. It took a decade to get here.

Looking forward to this new year with the start of major new projects, goals, and dreams in mind. And counting on you for your ongoing support of my work.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2020!
