Wrapping Up 2015: The Year in Review

This time of year is normally filled with superlatives and I have to admit I love it. As a writer, looking back and reflecting on the year is one of my favorite things to do, especially from a feminist perspective.

Things at the end of 2014 were looking so good for women that I wrote a post entitled, “Things Can Only Get Better: How Feminists Rocked 2014.”

Although 2015 was a solid year as far as women’s rights, with the rise of religious extremism, Christian and Muslim, attacks on the rights of women and girls intensified.

Attacks on Planned Parenthood rose in the US and anti-Muslim rhetoric and action increased.

Racist-sexist overall huuuge douchebag, Donald Trump climbed in the polls, and the female factor in the San Bernidino shootings led many to demonize Muslim women, especially those who cover.

I was honored to tape the last show of PBS’ To The Contrary where we reviewed the year for women in 2015.

Watch the full show and I hope you have a fantastic feminist New Year!
