Anushay Hossain is a writer, speaker, and leading voice on women’s health and medical inequality. Through her work, she exposes the systemic sexism and racism embedded in healthcare and advocates for a future where women’s pain, bodies, and voices are taken seriously.

Her bestselling Audible book, The Pain Gap: How Sexism and Racism in Healthcare Kill Women, draws on her own near-fatal childbirth experience and the stories of women across the country to reveal the devastating consequences of medical dismissal and bias. Published globally in multiple languages, the book has become a rallying point for a growing movement demanding accountability and reform in women’s healthcare.

Anushay is also the host of The Pain Gap Podcast, which has ranked in the top 10% of podcasts worldwide. Through intimate conversations with physicians, researchers, advocates, and patients, the show examines the structural failures of the medical system and the human stories behind them.

In 2025, she launched Anushay’s Point, a Substack newsletter exploring the political, cultural, and economic forces shaping women’s health. The publication quickly rose into the Top 100 Health & Politics newsletters, becoming a trusted space for readers seeking thoughtful analysis and reporting on the issues affecting women’s bodies and lives.

At the heart of Anushay’s work is a simple but radical idea: believing women is not optional, it is lifesaving.
